    THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD

     

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    Candidate will ensure communications information is available to forward deployed forces supporting continuing mission requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD) by providing support to communications systems acquisition, integration, installation, operations & maintenance (O&M) in support of USAFCENT deployed mission requirements. There is no specification or limitation to the actual tasks to be performed. Candidate will work as part of a team and must display a rigorous work ethic and possess the initiative and independent thinking to thrive in a dynamic environment. Candidate must have the ability to engineer, install and maintain network equipment to support new and emerging requirements. The candidate shall provide responsive services to include real-time network-level configuration control, network restoration, quality control and performance standards, status reporting, MSL, and other actions required by policies, responsibilities and operational support to all NOSC deployed projects.

     

    GENERAL EXPERIENCE:

    Intermediate “hands on” work experience in support of installations, repair, and troubleshooting or maintenance of communications systems or equipment. Must have the technical knowledge to solve complex problems, understand the interrelationships of circuits, and be able to exercise independent judgment in performing tasks in support of communications systems or equipment.

     

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    Intermediate experience with the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of microwave equipment as specified.

     

    JOB DETAILS:

    The candidate will support the engineering and design of microwave systems. Engineering support may include the following:

    • Equipment selection and evaluation
    • Path Surveys and profiles
    • System integration to existing infrastructure to include various interfaces (i.e. Serial, IP, ATM, etc.)
    • Frequency coordination
    • Communications tower selection and construction supervision
    • Link and path testing
    • System Acceptance testing
    • Legacy systems integration into the network
    • Design, troubleshoot, and optimize Satellite network connectivity, telephone switching equipment, video teleconferencing, microwave networks, VHF/UHF Radio, and IP Networking & IP based technology
    • Organize and establish engineering standards & standard solutions; coordinate work, and manage tasks
    • Design solutions, troubleshoot, and optimize existing networks utilizing multiplexing and Standard Military Cryptographic Equipment
    • Engineer solutions utilizing Digital Signal Processing, Demand Assigned Multiple Access (DAMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) Timing/ Encryption, IP Based transmission technologies and encryption
    • Be familiar with DoD & Air Force Information Assurance/ Protection standards, Communications Security Practices
    • Brief commanders on plans and/or status of projects and provide summaries as required by the task order
    • Design integrated systems using numerous types of electronic or mechanical components and assure product interoperability.
    • Coordinate project schedules to ensure the efficient usage of available resources.
    • Travel to installation sites to perform pre-installation surveys and on-site installation management.
    • Analyze and evaluate existing communications networks and infrastructure.
    • Calculate and recommend upgrades or restructuring of equipment or routing to meet emerging requirements.
    • Write detailed engineering project support plans and installation instructions. Establishes goals, and evaluates all project modifications to ensure they meet the desired project operational objectives.
    • Review new equipment to ensure its interoperability with existing products and sustainability for long term maintenance support.
    • Produce project timelines on macro and micro levels and track individual projects to completion while maintaining the status of each.
    • Create project budgets and modify system capabilities to fit within available funds.
    • Research military and commercial equipment by reviewing datasheets, white papers.
    • Coordinate with the Government the procurement of materials and monitor the process to include fund allocation, purchase re-quest submission, part manufacturing, and delivery timelines.
    • Installing, testing, and repairing microwave telecommunications equipment, including designing site requirements
    • Installing, and implementing remote network facilities utilizing voice radio, telephone, data communications, facsimile and related equipment and apparatus

     

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    Active Defense (DoD) security clearance at SECRET or TOP SECRET / SCI level is required

    US Citizenship is required

    Valid United States passport required

    Experience using computer systems and Microsoft Office suite of products

    Ability to accurately document routine work and while troubleshooting problems

    Well-developed oral and written communications skills

     

    TRAVEL: 10%

     

    EDUCATION:

    Must have a high school diploma

    Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is a plus, but not required

     

    CERTIFICATIONS:

    Must meet the certification requirement of DoD 8570.01-M or otherwise stated in SPIN-C. The candidate is expected to have, but is not limited to, the following IT certificate:

    • Security+
