Position Duties:

Serves as an experienced network engineer supporting DoD classified and unclassified networks.  Candidate will be required to perform installation, and configuration of networking, switching, routing, VoIP solutions, and satellite communications systems.  Will provide oversight of existing terrestrial and satellite-based global network(s).  Candidate must also possess a strong knowledge of iDirect network architecture.  Candidate will become an iDirect Certified Hub Implementation Professional.  Must be available to travel to work locations within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States (OCONUS).  Travel may include long assignments at a customer site.


Required Skills:

  • Install, maintain, and support complex LAN and WAN environments.
  • Administration of Cisco hardware such as Routers, Switches, Wireless Controllers, and ASA Firewalls.
  • Experience with iDirect network planning, implementation, monitoring, upgrading, etc.
  • iDirect Hub Installation Professional.
  • Advanced understanding of WAN technologies such as QoS, MPLS, GRE, IPSEC and SSL client VPNs.
  • Advanced understanding of WAN connectivity such as T1/E1, T3/E3, and Ethernet.
  • Complete understanding of the OSI model.
  • Complete understanding IPv4 Subnetting.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation (drawings, IP schemes, technical writing).
  • Experience with Cisco IOS switching and routing platforms.
  • Experience with network security to include 802.1x, RADIUS/TACACS+, and access-list.
  • Experience with monitoring software such as Solarwinds and Orion.
  • Experience with configuring and utilizing Netflow.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.


Desired Skills:

  • Sniffer/packet capture and analysis software and hardware experience.
  • Cisco Wireless access points and WPA encryption.
  • Linux Servers.
  • Windows Servers.
  • Department of Defense background.
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine.
  • Cisco Unified Call Center Express scripting (UCCX).
  • Cisco Unified Presence Server (CUPS).
  • VMware Virtualization.
  • Active Directory.



  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is desired but not required.
  • CCNA required (CCNP or CCVP preferred).
  • CompTIA Security+ (or gain possession of shortly after hire).



  • 4 or more years of technical experience with configuring and maintaining multiple LAN and WAN environments in a DoD environment.
  • 3 years experience in a satellite communications operations facility.
  • 2 years experience with iDirect Networks.


The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently and follow through with requirements needing minimal guidance or supervision.  He or she must be able to adjust to emergency situations and changing priorities while remaining composed and effective under the pressure.  Heavy workloads, time sensitive demands, and/or changing conditions are normal in this position.  The successful candidate will be able to easily handle these complexities, while remaining tactful, diplomatic, considerate of the views of others, and effective as a team player.
